About Dijon mustard…

Did you know that the big mustard makers (Maille, Amora) stopped growing mustard seeds around Dijon decades ago? Yet the mustard is still called “Dijon mustard”, because it is not a protected designation of origin but a protected recipe since 1937.

To restore mustard to its former glory, a group of local businesses is working towards the reintroduction of mustard seed growing in Burgundy, often organically, under the PDO “ Moutarde de Bourgogne ”! Among them, the Fallot mustard house in Beaune, and our favourite: Reine de Dijon located just 7 km from La Malinette.
